What is LiveGig?
What is LiveGig?
LiveGig is a song request management platform for live musicians. It lets your audience scan a QR code to browse your song list and submit requests from their phone, while you see them appear in a real-time queue you control. No more shouted requests, napkins, or forgotten songs.
Who is LiveGig for?
LiveGig is for any live performer who takes song requests — bands, solo musicians, dueling piano bars, open mic hosts, and venues that host live music. If you play to a crowd and want to organize requests professionally, LiveGig is built for you.
How is LiveGig different from a tip jar or Venmo link?
A tip jar or Venmo link only collects money. LiveGig manages the entire request flow — audience members browse your actual song list, submit structured requests, and you see them organized in a queue with deduplication, cooldowns, and analytics. It is a complete request management system, not just a payment link.
Can I use LiveGig if I don't have a website?
Yes. LiveGig gives you a dedicated QR code and request page hosted on livegig.app. You do not need your own website. Print the QR code, display it at your shows, and your audience scans it to request songs. If you do have a website, you can also embed the LiveGig widget on it.
Does LiveGig work for any genre of music?
Yes. LiveGig is genre-agnostic. You add your own song repertoire, so it works for rock bands, country artists, dueling piano bars, jazz ensembles, solo acoustic acts, and everything in between. If you can take requests for it, LiveGig can manage it.
How It Works
How do song requests work?
Your audience scans your unique QR code with their phone camera, which opens your LiveGig request page — no app download needed. They browse your song list, tap to request a song, and it instantly appears in your queue on any device you are using. You play or decline each request with one tap.
What is a QR code request page?
Every LiveGig band gets a unique QR code linked to a mobile-friendly request page. Your audience scans the QR code with their phone, sees your available songs, and submits requests. The QR code is downloadable as a high-resolution image you can print on table tents, posters, or your tip jar. You can reuse the same QR code at every show — no need to print a new one each time.
How does the live queue work?
Requests appear in your queue in real time across all connected devices — no refresh needed. Multiple requests for the same song are grouped together with a count. You can play, decline, or reorder requests, and every action syncs instantly to all band members viewing the queue.
Can I set cooldowns or block certain songs?
Yes. You can set a cooldown period for each song — a fixed duration, end-of-show, or no cooldown at all. Once a song is played, it enters cooldown and your audience sees a countdown timer. You can also deactivate a song to remove it from your request list temporarily — useful when a song needs more rehearsal or you want to retire it for a while.
How do audiences find the request page?
Your audience finds it by scanning the QR code you display at your show — on a table tent, poster, tip jar, or even projected on a screen. No URL to type, no app to download. The QR code opens your request page instantly in their phone browser.
Can I embed the request widget on my band's website?
Yes. LiveGig offers an embeddable widget that shows a live show badge on your band website. It automatically turns on when a show starts and off when it ends. You can customize it to match your site's look, and visitors can request songs directly from your site.
Does LiveGig work for livestreams?
Yes. LiveGig works for virtual shows too. Display your QR code on your livestream, and viewers scan it from their screen to request songs from anywhere in the world. For livestreams where scanning is tricky, you can also share a direct link to your request page in your stream chat or description — viewers click it to request songs just as they would by scanning the QR code. The queue works the same way whether your audience is in the room or watching online.
Can audience members tip through LiveGig?
LiveGig integrates a tip jar feature. You add your Venmo, PayPal, or CashApp link, and a tip button appears after each successful song request. You keep 100% of your tips — LiveGig does not take a cut. You can optionally enable tip priority, which bumps requests from audience members who clicked through to your tip jar ahead of non-tippers in the queue — a nice way to reward fans who support you. You can track tip engagement in your analytics.

Yes. Every new band gets a 30-day free trial with no show limit, so you can run as many shows as you want in your first month — no credit card required. After the trial, you move to the free plan (2 shows per month) or upgrade to Pro for unlimited shows and full analytics. Setup & Technical
How long does it take to set up LiveGig?
Most musicians are ready to go in under 10 minutes. Create an account, add your band, import your song list, and generate a QR code. That is it. You can fine-tune settings like cooldowns and tip jar links anytime.
Do I need to buy any special hardware?
No. LiveGig runs on the devices you already have — a phone, tablet, or laptop to view your queue, and your audience uses their own phones to scan the QR code and submit requests. Nothing extra to buy or install.
Do audience members need to download an app?
No. Audience members simply scan your QR code with their phone camera and the request page opens in their mobile browser. No app download, no account creation, no friction. They browse your songs and tap to request.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. LiveGig works on any device with a web browser. The audience request page is mobile-optimized for both iOS and Android. The musician queue works on phones, tablets, and desktops — any device with a browser and internet connection.
Can I use LiveGig without WiFi or internet?
LiveGig requires an internet connection to sync requests in real time between your audience and your queue. If your venue has no WiFi or cell service, LiveGig will not be able to receive or display requests. Most venues have at least cell service available.
Can multiple band members manage the queue at the same time?
Yes. LiveGig supports real-time multi-device sync. All band members can view and manage the queue simultaneously from their own devices. Every action — playing, declining, reordering — syncs instantly across all connected devices.
Features
What features does LiveGig have?
LiveGig includes QR code song requests, real-time queue management with multi-device sync, request deduplication, song cooldowns, song deactivation, tip jar integration, embeddable website widget, downloadable QR codes, analytics with per-show metrics, livestream support, stage-friendly Now Playing display, team roles, unlisted song requests, and dark mode.
What is the song cooldown feature?
Song cooldowns prevent repeats. When a song is played, it enters a cooldown period you configure — a set duration, end-of-show, or no cooldown. During cooldown, the song cannot be requested again, and your audience sees a countdown timer so they know when it will be available.
What is song deactivation?
Song deactivation lets you control which songs appear on your request list. You can deactivate a song to remove it temporarily — useful when it needs more rehearsal, you are retiring it for a while, or you just do not want it requested tonight. Deactivated songs stay in your repertoire, so you can reactivate them any time. You can also rely on cooldowns to limit how often a song can be requested.
What analytics does LiveGig provide?
LiveGig tracks your most requested songs, acceptance rates, and per-show metrics like total requests, songs played, and tips engaged. The free plan shows analytics for the current show. Pro unlocks full history and trends across all your shows so you can learn what your audience wants over time.
Can I export my song catalog?
Yes. Your song repertoire is your data. You can manage it within LiveGig and export it at any time. Add songs individually or import them in bulk, and your catalog is always yours to take with you. Exporting comes in handy for plenty of real-world situations — sharing your song list with a venue or client booking you, building a setlist for rehearsal, printing a master list for a bandmate who prefers paper, or keeping a backup in case you ever want to switch platforms.
Does LiveGig support setlist building?
LiveGig focuses on request management rather than setlist planning. However, your analytics show which songs are most requested and which get the highest acceptance rates, which helps you plan setlists that match what your audience actually wants to hear.
What is the per-show recap graphic?
After each show, LiveGig generates a recap showing key metrics from the performance — total requests, songs played, top-requested songs, and more. It is a shareable summary of your show that you can post to social media to show fans what a great night it was.
Who Made This?
Who built LiveGig?
LiveGig is built by Sean "Sharky" McMains, a developer and musician based in Texas. He created LiveGig to solve a problem he kept seeing at his own shows — requests shouted across the room, scribbled on napkins, and songs that never made it onto the setlist. What started as a personal tool grew into a platform any performing musician can use.
Is LiveGig made by musicians, for musicians?
Yes. LiveGig is built by a working musician who takes song requests at live shows. Every feature — the queue, cooldowns, deduplication, tip jar, the recap graphic — came from real experience on stage, not from a product roadmap built in a conference room.
How can I get in touch with the team?
You can email info@livegig.app with questions, feedback, feature requests, or just to say hello. Sean reads every message and many of the best features in LiveGig started as a single email from a user.
