I'm Martin, and I play in an acoustic duo called The Boxers in the Münsterland region of Germany. We play covers across decades — Lagerfeuerhits, 80s, 90s, 2000s — with two strong voices, acoustic guitars, and foot percussion. Sing-along is a priority for us, so audience interaction is everything.
When I discovered LiveGig, it was exactly what I was looking for. I started using it for my solo shows, and the very first time I tried it was at a small wedding. The father of the bride requested at least 10 songs through the app — the crowd loved it, and it made the whole experience so much more interactive. People could browse the set list, pick what they wanted to hear, and I had a stack-ranked queue right there on my phone.
I wrote to Sharky asking if a German version was possible, and he had internationalization support up and running within days. I helped review the translations, and now the app is available in German — so I can honestly claim that the app only exists in German because of me. (Well, mostly.)
My band partner Michael, who is not exactly a tech enthusiast, liked the app well enough that he's now writing an article about it for our local newspaper. We're promoting our first self-hosted concert on October 10th, and LiveGig is part of the story.
The app has become part of how we perform. The audience feels more involved, the sing-along factor goes up, and we spend less time managing requests and more time playing. We even reference the request app on our website so people know they can shape the setlist before they arrive.
